The following work is the follow up to Imam Muwaffaq ud-Din ibn Qudamah’s (d.620) A Word of Advice. In that text, the Imam discussed the definition of Ihsan, the ayat and ahadith that establish it and also supplications making reference to it.

This text covers the life of his elder brother, Imam Abu `Umar Al-Maqdisi (d.607), who is an embodiment of Ihsan and every good thing that comes from the people of the science. In this small work, the reader will see the life and times of a successful man that has reached the highest levels of Ihsan. This Imam, Abu `Umar Al-Maqdisi, is a sign of truth and his worship, personal character and goodness show what the upright man of Ihsan should look like.

This work should show that there is neither esoteric nor gnostic means that are utilised by the people of righteousness in gaining nearness to Allah. Rather, it is through the very worship and revelation that our Lord sent down.

Also included within this text are 200+ footnotes and 9 appendicies that source the supplications and acts of worship viewed in this era as controversial along with a hefty treatment on the topic of counterfeits and fakers claiming lineage to the grand Imam, `Abdul Qadir Al-Jilani (d.561) and how they could not be further from him.
